In the summer time of 1992, Ruffwear founder Patrick Kruse used to be mountain cycling within the Los Padres National Forest together with his buddy Liz and her canine Moqui. On that journey, he encountered a problem that might result in a chain of inventions in efficiency canine equipment – and kickstart a complete trade.
While seeking to give her canine Moqui a drink, Liz emptied part of her water bottle right into a plastic bag and held it whilst the Rhodesian Ridgeback took a couple of slurps. Moqui then walked away panting, and Liz used to be actually left “holding the bag” – she couldn’t set it down with out shedding the water and he or she didn’t need to empty what used to be left again into her water bottle. “You need to do something about this,” Liz challenged Patrick. That problem sparked the foundation for Ruffwear’s first product — a collapsible water-proof bowl.
Back then, Patrick used to be designing paddle sports activities attire and equipment via his corporate, Salamander Paddle Gear. With his revel in in technical materials and design, Patrick got down to construct a water-proof bowl from a canine’s point of view. It had to cling meals and water in some way that appeals to canines and pack small for outside adventures. After 16 months of analysis, building, and checking out, Patrick created The Quencher™ collapsible meals and water bowl.
The Quencher accompanied Patrick and Salamander Paddle Gear to Outdoor Retailer in the summertime of 1994. Set out on a desk on the entrance in their sales space, the collapsible water-proof cloth bowl drew crowds whilst a purchaser at L.L. Bean positioned an order for eight,000 gadgets. Ruffwear had formally introduced.
Since that Outdoor Retailer display in 1994, Ruffwear has pioneered a class, construction efficiency canine equipment to make stronger and encourage exploration for outside adventurers and their human partners. Over the years, the Quencher has advanced via colour adjustments and adjustments to its dimension and form, but the shape and serve as of the unique bowl has remained the similar.
And now, for Spring 2018, the bowl that began all of it has been modernized with shiny new colours whilst keeping up its vintage glance.
